Sheltey - The Shelton Dog Park Guardian
Who Are We?
The Friends of Shelton Dog Park is a group of dog lovers who value and use the park regularly with their dogs. Formed in the spring of 2011, the group meets regularly to plan and implement park improvements and events.
Our desire is to work together to help maintain and improve the park for all its users - both human and canine.
Some of our current projects include:
- Work Parties - The park grounds need regular maintenance, such as spreading mulch, weeding and picking up trash. Work parties are held on the third Saturday of each month to help maintain the park. The next work party will be held in the spring of 2013. Check back for details.
- Fund Raisers - Costs associated with the park include poop bags and dispensers, benches, garbage bags, gardening tools, etc. etc. The Friends hold fund raisers on a regular basis to help defray the costs of maintaining the park.
- Dog Training Workshops - Regular dog training sessions with a certified dog trainer are offered by a volunteer trainer. These workshops are open to all dog owners and are designed to help owners better understand their dog's behavior and implement changes, as needed.
Where is the Park?
The Shelton Dog Park is located on the corner of Route 108 and Nell's Rock Road. It is a central location, convenient for all Shelton residents. There is parking next to the park and one of the many Shelton trails passes alongside the park, so you can take your dog for a walk in the woods after visiting the park.
